If sections one, two three and four of the power ring are red (section one being the top right-hand corner, and then working clockwise around) then the AV cable cannot being detected by your Xbox 360. If sections one and three are flashing red, then your Xbox 360 is overheating. Turn it off and leave it for an hour or so to cool down. To prevent this you should keep your Xbox 360 in a well-ventilated area. Don't put it on any soft surface that may block the ventilation openings, and don't put it near any heat sources. If sections one, three and four, or if only section four is flashing red, then your console has experienced a general hardware error. This problem is most commonly referred to as the "red ring of death" (although a red light in section four actually codes for the e74 system error)
